This Nordic Horse Ale Bowl was so much fun for me to design and carve.  It has a chisel carved texture and features colorful acanthus leaves on the sides.  The dark color on the background of the bowl nicely accentuates the brighter colors on the head and tail of the horse. This carving reflects the importance of horses in the Nordic culture and it was fashioned in the Norwegian folk art tradition.  It was carved from basswood and was finished with acrylic paints.
